REVISED NATIONAL TUBERCULOSIS PROGRAMME (TB)
Tuberculosis, especially Pulmonary Tuberculosis is burning problem at this current juncture. Its magnitude is very high. It lies in the frontline with all other infectious diseases . Among all other infectious diseases it has the highest mortality rate which can easily be conjectured by the Base Line data. It is a leading killer of adults globally. Let us all unite and exert concentrate efforts to curve the increasing trend of this deadly disease.
In the year 1996 GSKP started their mission to eradicate TB in Berhampore Municipal area to set up four DOTs center with the support of District Tuberculosis Center, Murshidabad.
Gskp have the capalbility to generate Health Education & Awareness in the community through meetings, discussions, individual contact, development of interpersonal relationship, group meeting, mothers meeting, posters, videos, slide show, home visits and meeting with the people from all walks of life and so on.
LT Scheme: Strengthening RNTCP diagnostic services
GSKP run the LT Scheme in following PHCs:
1. Daulatabad Charitable Disp.
2. Mahula PHC.
3. Saktipur BPHC
4. Indrani PHC
Adherence scheme: Promoting treatment adherence
RNTCP has prioritized decentralization of treatment services as a means of ensuring that reatment is maximally accessible and acceptable to patients. Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have a long history of supporting health services at the community level, often with remarkable effectiveness and rapport with communities. NGOs also often have capacity to provide excellent treatment support, counseling for patients, and can contribute to public health oriented activities in TB treatment, namely address verification and default retrieval.
Gorabazar Sahid Khudiram Pathagar involved in above scheme since the year 2003 & working as DOTs center since the year 1994. GSKP working in the following Municipality under above scheme –
Our organization also doing the following tasks as per RNTCP guideline in the target area –
DOT services:

Identify, train, and supervise volunteers who will be providing DOT.

Provide RNTCP treatment to patients at a time and place accessible and acceptable to patients.

Ensure that treatment is provided strictly as per RNTCP policy, free of charge to patients for any service rendered

Ensure that DOT providers maintain records as per RNTCP policy

Ensure the collection of follow up sputum specimens

Organize medical care for side effects at appropriate health services

Facilitate payment of RNTCP DOT provision honorarium at current rate to community DOT providers

Assist in providing continuity of care for referred or transferred patients.
Awareness generation:

Conduct IEC activities related to treatment adherence, including community meetings and patient-provider meetings.

Creating awareness and linking the patients with the existing welfare schemes for eligible patients.

Counseling services for patients and families

Provide package of counseling services to include emotional support, information on symptoms, disease, duration of treatment, importance of DOT adherence, side effects, referrals Services and referrals for substance abuse, harm reduction, including support for persons who abuse alcohol.
